Pathogen genome sequencing projects have provided a wealth of data that need to be set in context to pathogenicity and the outcome of infections. Original research papers of high quality and novelty on aspects of control, diagnosis, epidemiology, host response, immunology, molecular biology, pathogenesis, prevention, and treatment of microbial diseases of animals are published. Drug trial papers are accepted if they have general application or significance. Papers on the identification of microorganisms are also accepted, but detailed taxonomic studies do not fall within the scope of the journal.
